Breaking news!

Words cannot describe how honoured, flattered, grateful, and absolutely THRILLED I am to share this breaking news with all of you.  Today, this blog, and my Master of Education research were included on the York University Webpage in an article entitled: "Student blog gets close to half a million world-wide views."

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for taking an interest and following our transformative journey.  It has truly been such a surreal experience...

Special thanks are also extended upon Professors Isabel Killoran and Naomi Norquay for bringing my work to the attention of Anderson Coward (York University's Media and Communications Specialist), who wrote and published the article.

And as always, thank you to my supportive Principal Kim Smith, Vice Principal Jennifer Walsh, DECE teaching partner Julie Ham, my remarkable students/parents, and my own family and friends for their encouragement over the two years that I was blogging.

  1. Congratulations Joanne. Your students are very lucky to have such a caring and devoted teacher. Continue to do what comes naturally....even during family gatherings you bring your classroom with you....Nicholas, Alexandra, Stephanos and Zoe love it when you have educational activities .....like the kadinski painting.

  4. Congratulations Ms. Babalis! I have been following your blog as Mark is in your JK class. It is very interesting and informative. You are offering your students a welcoming classroom where they can learn and explore. Mark is absolutely loving coming to school each day. When asked how his day was, his response is "It was great!" When I ask him what was the best part of his day, he responds, "Going to school and seeing Ms. Babalis".

    Wishing you much continued success.

  5. Congratulations Joanne! You are an inspiration to so many as you have shared and continue to share your learning and thinking with others. You make learning visible and purposeful within the walls of your classroom and it is a joy to walk into the space and feel the energy of inquiry that is evident. I am continually inspired by your thinking and your work. I know as you embrace the next stages of this journey you will continue to inspire and engage learners, both young and old, with your committment and dedication to environment and inquiry. Well done!
